Pastor Don Laing's testimony of 2008 Short term mission trip

I Declare! 1 Chronicles 16:24-31

This year will be the second time for me to join the Taiwan mission trip. As I look back I have huge thanks for God’s grace to me that he would allow me to be a vessel to carry His Name to those for whom He sent His One and Only Son. Though I cannot speak the language of Taiwanese, I trust Him to use my life in word and action His heart and purpose to pour out His love to them. As I prepare for this trip, the scripture that God has spoken to me through has been 1 Chronicles 16:24. By the grace of God I endeavor to declare the greatness of my God and His worthiness to be praised above all gods, “for they are all idols, but the lord made the heavens.” I pray that they are able to see that our God has not been fashioned by the West but He has fashioned us. I/we have been given the privilege to carry His Name and promises to those who willing to turn to Him and ascribe to Him the Glory He deserves.

I pray that God will give our team one heart to be His representatives as we serve in the school, at the church and wherever else we may go. May God give us the sensitivity that our lives are on display for Him. So as I pray for this year’s team, I encourage each of you to ask God to give us one heart, one faith and one love as we live out the redeemed life before each other. I trust that He is able to bring forth His life in mine in our teams in such a way that others will see Him. May His testimony in my life by seen by how I love His people and the people of Yilan. May the words that I speak and the meditations of my hearts be pleasing to Him.

I trust that if we keep this ideal before our eyes, in our hearts and in our prayers we will see a great work of God. Of course, there is still much preparation that we will need to do to be ready for every good work that the Lord might allow us to be used by Him for in Yilan.

This year’s theme will be forgiveness with the undercurrents of God’s redeeming love. We will use the stories of the prodigal son, the lost sheep and the lost coins to teach the children English as we explore the path of finding forgiveness and experiencing God’s love.
