This year I plan to go to China because I see God opening a door of opportunity to serve there. This would be another opportunity to see what God is doing in China. For me, it’s hard to go on this trip after my brother’s sudden passing away. I’m stunned that the Lord took him before his 35th birthday at the prime of his life. He had only been married for 6 months. Yet, I know that he will be with the Lord because he trusted in Jesus Christ as his Savior years ago. I didn’t feel I have much left in me to do anything, much less going there to help other people. But, I trust God wants me to persevere despite the trials I’m going through. He wants me to depend on Him alone, not how good or spiritual I am. I trust He wants to bless me through this trip. We don’t know how long we will live. We can be in good health and the next moment something happens to take away that health. My brother had chance to go to many places for missions – like Cambodia, Taiwan, Tibet, and Africa. The pastor at my brother’s memorial service used this verse: “As long as it is day, we must do the work of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work.” (John 9:4) Thus, I will use every opportunity to do the work of God. There’s nothing to be fearful of in Christ. There’s nothing to be worried about when we are doing God’s work. We will be resurrected one day when Christ comes back. That’s when we will truly enjoy the fellowship with God and each other. While we have today, let’s do the work of God.
